Some careers are planned. Others are shaped by courage, determination and a willingness to embrace the unknown.
At just 16 years old, George Baker joined the British Army as a Royal Engineer. His military career included a tour of Afghanistan, where he developed qualities that would stay with him throughout his working life…. discipline, resilience, accountability and, perhaps most importantly, teamwork.

Alongside his service, George gained qualifications in Building and Structural Engineering, developing both practical expertise and a strong technical foundation. When George left the Army in 2013, he could hardly have imagined where the next chapter would take him.

Today, as Head of Sales & Marketing at SWC, those same values continue to influence the way he works, leads and supports others. Leadership isn’t always something you’re taught. Sometimes it’s something life prepares you for.
