Very Important:
For those of you who may install these door-sets, either Panic Bar or otherwise to Pedestrian Escape Routes, we would like to remind you that it is your responsibility to ensure the product is tested and operating correctly.
BS EN 14351-1 clause 4.10 requires that emergency exit devices and panic devices installed on external pedestrian door sets in escape routes shall comply with EN 179, EN 1125, prEN 13633 or prEN 13637. As purely a manufacturer and not an installer of these door-sets, SWC is not required to carry out force testing of these doors (only operational checks) as the doors require installation before force testing can be carried out.
Once installed, it is important to test the force required to operate the door and to record your test to confirm that it meets with the current regulations. This will involve the use of a Force Metre that can measure up to 150 N.

To help you with this we have compiled a document called Panic Bar test Instructions which can be found in the link below (Important Technical Data & Installation). Within these instructions you will find suggestions for the information to record.
These tests are applicable to all door styles fitted to a Pedestrian Exit Route (i.e.: lever lever handle as well as Panic Bar style).
Ongoing maintenance and routine testing would also be strongly advised. This we suggest is negotiated between you and your customer.
